From Manufacturers Brochure
The Maxicut S-36 CNC provides fast and accurate machined holes in any electrically conductive material. This machine tool provides an economical alternative for producing holes in hardened materials where conventional drills are inadequate. The machines heavy duty construction permits a wide variety of tool room and production uses.
The Maxicut enhanced micro-processor and quick response DC Servo motor help remove the disintegrated material from the cut, rapidly promoting smaller, faster, and deeper drilling possibilities. This model is compact and easy to operate by using the keypad for data entry. Data entry is preformatted to accept operator input in a sequence, simplifying set-up. The built in microprocessor assures that by approaching the part with low electrode power, then gradually increasing to full power it creates a clean entrance hole. This produces a small controlled crater at initial spark, reducing burrs and scarred work surfaces caused by molten splatter.
A first spark sensing, Auto-Z control is standard for automatic machining cycles. This feature zeros the Z Axis on first spark, thus, compensating for electrode wear. Programming the X and Y Axis hole position, depth of cut, retract stroke, and machine settings are all accomplished by keypad entry. Precision linear glass scales with 5 micron resolution provides true, closed loop, position feedback for precise part positioning accuracy.
The dielectric unit is a self-priming triplex, three-plunger pump, capable of producing 1,200 to 1,400 psi. Average running pressure is 500 to 700 psi. This amount of pressure is required to create a dielectric flow through the rotating tube electrode, offering it stability at the point of EDM, creating optimum flushing conditions. The standard dielectric system is re-circulating, it pumps from a 5 gallon reservoir to a small filter and returns back to the reservoir.
POWER SUPPLY AND MACHINE CONTROL
The machining cycle can be programmed allowing grids or patterns of holes to be drilled automatically. The CNC control can be programmed for up to 990 hole positions. Each line of the program calls out the X and Y Axis coordinates and an EDM condition set which in turn contains the on time, off time, peak current setting, and the hole depth information. For simple grids with equally spaced holes the delta X and the delta Y commands make programming simple.
The machine has a pendant-mounted control for convenient positioning and data entry during set up. The pendant control is mounted on the right side of the machine and contains a 15" LCD color monitor display, analog voltage and amperage meters, servo controls and a keyboard for data input. The main power section for the drill is located in the base of the machine close to the work area for optimum performance. Programming is simplified through
