Our Story

Built on Machining Experience

Northeast Precision Machinery started with Glenn Weiss.

Before founding NPM, Glenn built his career in manufacturing, beginning as a machinist in the U.S. Army in 1974 and later working as a toolmaker for Action Manufacturing Company in Philadelphia. His engineering training and leadership experience helped shape the company that became Northeast Precision Machinery.

NPM was founded in 1995 with a focus that still guides the company today: give manufacturers access to the right equipment, provide straightforward technical guidance, and stay involved after the machine is purchased.

That approach has carried NPM from its beginnings in Northeast Philadelphia to its current home in Warminster, where the company continues to support manufacturers throughout the region.

Our goal is your success.

Experience That Goes Beyond the Sales Floor

The people behind NPM bring more than 100 years of combined experience in machining, equipment sales, applications, and technical service.

That experience matters because choosing a machine is rarely just a matter of comparing specifications. The right equipment depends on the part, material, tolerances, production requirements, cycle time, available labor, and the way the machine needs to fit into the rest of your operation.

NPM's team works with manufacturers throughout that process, from machine selection and demonstrations to applications support, installation, training, service, parts, and ongoing technical support.

NPM has built its reputation around fairness, reliability, and practical support. The goal is not simply to put another machine on the floor. It is to help make sure the equipment makes sense for the work you want to do.

News, Events & Manufacturing Insights

U.S. Reshoring Trends Create New Opportunities for Manufacturers

More manufacturers are exploring domestic production, creating potential opportunities for U.S. machine shops and precision manufacturers. A 2026 Reshoring Initiative survey found that 36% of surveyed OEMs had reshored production or were actively pursuing reshoring, up from 29% in 2025.

For machine shops, this shift could mean new opportunities to supply components, shorten supply chains, and build long-term customer relationships. Winning that work still depends on competitive pricing, consistent quality, and dependable lead times. Investing in the right CNC equipment and production capabilities can help shops respond to new demand while still remaining competitive.

CNC Machine Data Helps Manufacturers Reduce Unplanned Downtime

Unplanned downtime costs machine shops valuable production hours, delays deliveries, and reduces equipment profitability. Modern CNC controls can provide useful information about spindle loads, operating status, cycle times, and machine utilization.

Tracking this data helps shop managers identify bottlenecks, recurring interruptions, and opportunities to improve production flow. Machine-condition monitoring can also help identify developing problems before they lead to costly failures. Better visibility into machine performance allows shops to make smarter maintenance decisions and get more productive hours from their existing equipment.

Digital Twin Technology Opens New Possibilities for CNC Machining

Digital twin technology allows manufacturers to create digital representations of physical machines and processes, using data to better understand real-world performance. In CNC machining, these models can help engineers evaluate machine behavior, analyze operating conditions, and identify opportunities to improve production. Depending on the system, simulations can also help assess process changes before they are implemented on the shop floor.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has researched digital twins specifically for CNC machine tools, including approaches relevant to smaller and mid-sized manufacturers. As these technologies develop, they could help machine shops improve process planning, troubleshoot issues, and make more informed equipment decisions.

Manufacturers Invest in Training to Build a More Skilled Workforce

Manufacturers are investing billions in workforce training to help employees keep pace with increasingly advanced production technology. A 2026 survey by the Manufacturing Institute estimates that U.S. manufacturers spend $31.9 billion annually on internal and external training programs. Training helps employees develop skills that can improve production efficiency, product quality, and the effective use of modern manufacturing equipment.

For CNC machine shops, developing expertise in programming, setup, tooling, and automated processes can help teams tackle more complex jobs and get more value from their machines. As machining technology evolves, ongoing skills development remains an important investment in a shop’s long-term productivity and competitiveness.

Why Manufacturers Work With NPM

Real Experience. Practical Guidance. Long-Term Support.

For more than 30 years, NPM has built its business around helping manufacturers make equipment decisions based on the work the machine actually needs to do. That means looking beyond the machine itself.

NPM considers the application, production requirements, process, support needs, and long-term goals behind an equipment purchase. When an application calls for more than a machine alone, NPM brings applications support, automation, training, service, parts, and turnkey capabilities into the project.

The relationship continues after installation. NPM supports the equipment we sell with technical service, preventative maintenance, replacement parts, machine training, and ongoing assistance.

The result is a machinery partner that understands both the equipment and the manufacturing environment it needs to operate in.

Built for Your Success

Northeast Precision Machinery has spent more than three decades helping manufacturers throughout the Mid-Atlantic find equipment that fits the work, solve production challenges, and keep their operations moving.

From a single used machine to a new CNC system, automation project, EDM application, or complete turnkey solution, NPM brings machinery, technical expertise, and support together under one roof.

Our goal is your success.
